Sioux land Dental Health would now hold its second annual "Dentistry from the Heart" happening from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 2114 Pierce St. Free dental services would be obtainable on a first come, first serve basis at the clinic. One service would be offered per person. Recipients should be 16 years of age or older. Anyone who requires dental care treatment but cannot pay for it is encouraged to attend Saturday's event

The state requires spending about $40 million over the next two years to increase refund rates to dentists who serve poor and uninsured kids, according to a committee convened after a Prince George's County boy expired this year of an untouched tooth infection.
It is the expectation of the Dental Action Committee that a boost in reimbursement -- the state pays $9 for dental sealants that price dentists about $40 -- would motivate more dentists to take part in the state's Medicaid program, a federal-state initiative that covers health-care costs for low-income families with children, and other needy people.
