The clinic is joined with the health center, also run by Great Brook Valley, and serves low-income inhabitants and senior civilian who usually would go without dental care. The necessity had been well recognized: Previous year nearly 300 patients from Framingham and another 130 patients from Marlborough, Hudson and Westborough all came to the Great Brook Valley dental clinic in Worcester, a task that often took them the whole day because of the lack of public transportation.
Few dentists are willing to admit patients with partial or no facility to pay. Even patients with dental insurance through MassHealth, the state's low-income assurance plan, have had troubles finding dentists who agree to the insurance, Yarzebski said.
