Gwynedd Local Health Board would now have to pay $900,000 to run the NHS surgeries at Cibyn Industrial Estate, Caernarfon and Snowdonia Business Park, in Penrhyndeudraeth, which would serve up to 18,000 people.
But although both practices are ready, Oasis Healthcare missed the Assembly's March 31 deadline; sense they lost out on the government's financial backing.
Since the dental company had by now signed a contract, the health board will now have to disburse for new patients from their own funds.
Heather Merrick, assistant director for main care at Gwynedd Local Health Board, said: "The LHB has made a commitment to fund the shortfall of $900,000 from its existing resources."This would, of course, confine the board's flexibility to further improve access to NHS dental care for the people of Gwynedd. "The Welsh Assembly has knowledgeable us that there will be a further opportunity to relate for additional funding in the near future."Its is hoped that the LHB will be winning in attracting new resources from this central allocation since of the low levels of admission to NHS dentistry in Gwynedd with only 18% of residents having access to NHS dental care."
A Welsh Assembly spokesman said that "some additional fund-in" will be made available to cover part of the cost for the centers.
